You got to hand it to Google. Strictly speaking percentages, Google+ has netted more members in its three week existence than Facebook has added every week since its inception nearly seven years ago. With ten million users and counting, Google hopes their new social network takes off as the Pepsi to Facebook’s Coca-Cola. That’s a level of competition that Facebook hasn’t felt since Myspace quietly slipped away from the scene over the last few years. But it’s going to take more than popularity-hounds and tech lovers to keep Google+ growing fast enough to catch up to Facebook’s 750 million member army. One of Google’s tactics is neither original nor unexpected nor foolish: get celebrities to make profiles.
